Barry County, Missouri (Map It) was created on January 5, 1835 from Greene County. The county was named in honor of William Taylor Barry (1784-1835), jurist and United States Postmaster General.

Barry County is bordered by Lawrence County (north), Stone County (east), Carroll County, Arkansas (southeast), Benton County, Arkansas (south), McDonald County (southwest), Newton County (northwest).
