Upson County, Georgia (Map It) was created on December 15, 1824 from Crawford County and Pike County. Upson County was named in honor of Stephen Upson (1786 - 1824), a noted state legislator.

Upson County is bordered by  Lamar County (north), Pike County (north), Monroe County ( northeast), Crawford County (south), Taylor County (south), Talbot County (southwest), Meriwether County (northwest).
