I have access at a local library to the Portland, Oregon edition of The Oregonian which began publication in 1850. Please be sure the person you are requesting a lookup for died in a town in the Portland Metro area (Multnomah, Clackamas & Washington Counties) before making your request. Older editions will contain only funeral notices. Obituaries were reserved for the very prominent. However, the funeral notices usually contain the names of survivors.
I can check out local newspapers, Multnomah County library, the local genealogy library, cemeteries, Oregon Historical Society. I go down to the State Archives in Salem now and then. Just ask, I may be able to find what you are looking for.
I live in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington but am more familiar with Oregon research at the Oregon State Archives, Portland and vicinity.
We can take digital photos of headstones, and look up information contained at the local libraries, or Oregon State Library.
