Wyoming Census RecordsYellowstone National Park was established by the time the 1880 census was taken. So, it was included in that year’s Wyoming Territory census, along with 7 Wyoming Territory counties. All of the Wyoming Territory 1880 census records still exist. However, it is important to note that both Yellowstone National Park and Mammoth Hot Springs were recorded with the Uinta County census records for that year. The First Wyoming Territorial Census is often overlooked by researchers, but can be a valuable source of information. It was taken shortly after Wyoming became a territory. The census includes resident names, places of origin, and how long they had resided in Wyoming as of the time that the census was taken. Both the FHL and the Wyoming State Archives have copies of that census on file. The state archives has census records on file for Cheyenne Wyoming from 1875 through 1878. Those records include name, gender, age, occupation, nationality, and birthplace.
