Historical Maps of Oklahoma are a great resource to help learn about a place at a particular point in time. Oklahoma Maps are vital historical evidence but must be interpreted cautiously and carefully.

There are plat maps and other records for some of land allotments from 1889 to 1906 at the Oklahoma Historical Society’s Indian Archives.

There are many plat maps of Oklahoma, case entry files and original tract books at the BLM. The New Mexico State Office for the BLM houses plat maps and tract book copies. There are 72 volumes of Oklahoma Federal Tract Books at the Oklahoma Historical Society.

When the Native Americans were given land allotments in 1889. The National Archives in Fort Worth, Texas and the BIA in Muskogee, Oklahoma each hold some of the original plat maps and land descriptions for the Native Americans land allotments in 1889.

Both the National Archives and the Santa Fe, New Mexico BLM have copies of the plat maps and tract books. Seventy-two Oklahoma Federal Tract Books are on microfilm at the Oklahoma Historical Society.

Old Historical Atlas Maps of Oklahoma

This Historical Oklahoma Map Collection are from original copies. Most historical maps of Oklahoma were published in atlases and spans over 175 years of growth for the state.

Some Oklahoma maps years have cities, railroads, P.O. locations, township outlines, and other features useful to the Oklahoma researcher.

Oklahoma County Maps of Road and Highway’s

The Oklahoma D.O.T. Highway Department has prepared a series of 2003 county road maps. These maps contain more detailed information about man-made features than the geological survey maps.

In addition to roads and boundaries, these maps include rural communities, churches, and cemeteries. These Oklahoma maps are Free to downloade are in PDF format.
