Carroll County, Iowa Records

Carroll County, Iowa (Map It) was created on January 15, 1851 (Organized in 1855) from Pottawattamie County & Unorganized Territory. Carroll County was named in honor of Charles Carroll of Carrollton (1737–1832), a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence. He was the only Roman Catholic to sign the Declaration of Independence, and the longest living signer.

Carroll County is bordered by Sac County (northwest), Calhoun County (northeast), Greene County (east), Guthrie County (southeast), Audubon County (south), Crawford County (west).

Courthouse History

The Carroll County Courthouse is located in Carroll, Iowa. Carroll County was attached to Shelby County & Guthrie County for a breif time prior to organization November 7, 1855.
