Perry County, Tennessee (Map It) was created on November 14, 1819 from Hickman County and Humpherys County. This Perry County was named in honor of U.S. naval officer and War of 1812 hero Oliver Hazard Perry (1785–1819).

Perry County is bordered by  Humphreys County (north), Hickman County (northeast), Lewis County (southeast), Wayne County (south), Decatur County (west) and Benton County (northwest) .
