Newsletter, February 2008, Vol VII, Issue 2 *HAPPY ANNIVERSARY* *BROCHURE REMINDER* *ROGUE'S GALLERY* *VOLUNTEER TIP* *RAOGK SHOPS* *KUDOS* *CURRENT STATS* *HAPPY ANNIVERSARY* As we enter our 9th year online, the staff wishes to thank you for being the generous people you are for caring and sharing your knowledge and being the 'legs' for those who need information from your area but cannot bear the burdens of traveling. Without you wonderful volunteers, RAOGK would not be seeing its 9th anniversary online in March. ***************** *BROCHURE REMINDER* We have available a brochure regarding RAOGK available for you to use as handouts if you so choose. This brochure is in PDF format and can be seen/downloaded by going to http://www.raogk.org/raogk-flyer.pdf ***************** *ROGUE'S GALLERY* Another little publicized area we have for volunteers is our RAOGK Gallery (http://www.raogk.org/gallery2/). This area is a 'getting to know you area' where volunteers can upload pictures of themselves, their kids, their pets, flowers, vacation pictures, etc. It also can be used if you like to upload those digital pictures you have taken of tombstones that you have taken for others for them to download if they wish. To join in on the fun of getting to know one another, you will need to register. Registration is not automatic, but needs to be approved by admin. It may take a few hours to get approved, but you will receive a notice once approval has been made. ***************** *VOLUNTEER TIP* In the last newsletter Paul Navarro (Parker CO, TX Volunteer) sent in a tip about what he did with copies of all the photos and stuff he has left over in his computer after fulfilling a request. What he did was donate the files to a local library's genealogy department. In response, many of you wrote in to indicate you upload tombstone pictures to Find-A-Grave (http://www.findagrave.com) A volunteer suggested that we mention some sites that could be helpful to those doing research in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island: http://www.massachusetts-genealogy.com http://www.connecticut-genealogy.com http://www.rhodeisland-genealogy.com These sites organize the best online record sources available for these areas by county, town, and record type so that you can easily and quickly find the information you are looking for. Note: These sites are not in any way affiliated with RAOGK. Have a tip for your fellow volunteers? Please send your tips to feedback@raogk.org with the subject of Volunteer Tips. ***************** *RAOGK SHOPS* Would you like to have a t-shirt, mug, bumper sticker or license plate to proudly show you are a member of RAOGK? We have a RAOGK Logo shop located on Cafepress.com just for this purpose. (http://www.cafepress.com/raogk/). We also have more products with the RAOGK logo on them. Check it out. March 17th seems to bring the Irish out in most of us. RAOGK's sister store has two designs to help you wear the green on the 17th. http://www.cafepress.com/genealogyforyou/1200241 http://www.cafepress.com/genealogyforyou/1199893 ***************** *KUDOS*: http://www.raogk.org/thankyou/ The month of February saw kudos written about: Diana M.
