July Newsletter Issue I Volume 7 NEW SIGHTINGS Some new features on the site include the number of volunteers that are presently listed with RAOGK. This number is drawn from this mailing list database, to avoid those that are listed for more than one county. Indicating the number of volunteers on the site shows first time visitors that RAOGK isn't just a "fly by night" service. Another new feature on the site is an area where folks can place their "thank you" notes to those volunteers who have helped them. The link is on the main page, however if you would like to go straight to this area the URL is: http://www.raogk.org/guestbook/ A NEW FEATURE? On the RAOGK-L mailing list there was a thread about where to upload pictures you have taken for a requester who can not receive them through e-mail. Would you like to see an area on the site for this cability? In order to upload these pictures, you would be signed up to the area with an assigned password, however the requester would not have to be signed up to download those pictures. If you would like to see this feature implemented please go to http://raogk.org/vote/ and place your vote (you can also go there if you don't want to see this feature and vote no). BROTHER CAN YOU SPARE A DIME? Or possibly a buck or two? In reality, it does cost to produce the site, have the domain, and for it to be able to be on the internet. In the past this presented no problem, however, times have changed. Both my husband and I have been out of work for quite some time, and the fields that we worked in are suffering the largest percentage of unemployment of any other job sector, i.e. no jobs to be found. We did start an online business and are making a few dollars with it, but it takes time for businesses to get started. We now have reached what I call "critical mass," and we need your help to keep RAOGK online. If you could see your way clear to contribute a dollar or two to keep RAOGK on the internet, we really would appreciate it. If you would like to contribute, please visit http://www.raogk.org/support.html. Or you can go to http://www.maddoc.net and signup for one of our services, which will also help. We thank you in advance. Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer in the northern hemisphere, and those "down under" stay warm. RAOGK STAFF
