You are automatically subscribed to this required list because you 
have volunteered on the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness website. 
This is a 'read only' announce list for the purpose of allowing staff 
to contact the over 5,000 volunteers all at once.  You cannot reply 
or post a message to the list.  Announcements will not be made often, 
but will occur at least once a month to verify e-mail addresses.  

The staff wants to take this time to thank all of you 5175 volunteers 
that we have online.  Your time and willingness to help fellow 
genealogists is so much appreciated. Without you volunteers, there 
wouldn't be a RAOGK.

There have been a few changes to the site since going online. The 
first major one is that we now have our own domain:  
http://www.raogk.org.  We are no longer hosted by RootsWeb.  
Therefore, problems or complaints should not be directed to the 
RootsWeb helpdesk.  

From now on, you need to visit the change form to process a change of 
status: http://www.raogk.org/change.html  instead of contacting the 
raogk.admin address.  You can still write to the staff member 
(section coordinator) responsible for the area for which you have 
volunteered if you have a question. There is an e-mail link at the 
bottom of each state/country page to the section coordinator, or you 
may go to: http://www.raogk.org/vol.htm   Please remember that it 
takes about a week for any changes to be reflected online.  

Please remember to acknowledge every request you receive. We have 
received complaints that not all requests are acknowledged (this is 
our number one complaint). To simplify the response process, we 
suggest that you have two form letters prepared acknowledging receipt 
of the request; one specifying how long it will take to fulfill the 
request and the other stating that you are unable to fulfill the 
request and the reason you are unable to do so.  For example, one 
common reason for not fulfilling the request would be that it goes 
beyond the scope of the services for which you volunteered.
