Keith County, Nebraska (Map It) was created on February 27, 1873 from Unorganized area of the Nebraska Territory. The county was named in honor of M. C. Keith, who owned one of the largest ranches in western Nebraska at the time.
Keith County is bordered by Arthur County (north), McPherson County (northeast), Lincoln County (east), Perkins County (south), Deuel County (west), Garden County (northwest), Sedgwick County, Colorado -southwest.
